What are Tags?

Tags are a quick way to select groups of fixtures, similar to how tags function in many other applications. This helps speed up the process of selecting and manipulating multiple fixtures at once.

Creating Tags

Tags can be created from the Scratchpad or from the Tags Manager.

From the Scratchpad

Select the fixtures that want to be added to the new Tag, then tap Tag in the action bar. This will open up the Assign Tag window. Tap ‘Create new Tag’, give it a name, then tap ‘Create’. The new tag will appear, and the selected fixtures will be added to it automatically.

Assigning fixtures to Tags can only be done from the Action Bar

From the Tags Manager

Press ‘Create New Tag’ on the Tags Manager screen then enter a name to create a new Tag. This Tag will be empty. Fixtures will need to be assigned to the Tag from the Scratchpad.

Assign / Unassign Fixtures

Adding and removing fixtures from Tags is done from the Scratchpad. First, select the fixtures to add or remove, then tap ‘Tag’ in the action bar to open the Assign Tag window. Then tap the ‘Assign’ button to add all selected fixtures to a Tag, or tap ‘Unassign’ to remove all selected fixtures from a Tag.

Tags Manager

The Tags Manager is where Tags can be created, deleted, or rearranged, and where Smart Tags can be turned on or off. To find the Tags Manager, press the ‘Edit’ button on the Tags Bar, or navigate to the Settings section of the Setup screen and tap ‘Manage’ under Tags Manager.

The order Tags are arranged can be changed using the drag handles next to the Tag name on the Tags Manager screen.

Smart Tags

Smart Tags are Tags generated by the app based on certain rules. The fixtures within a Smart Tag change automatically as conditions change. Smart Tags cannot be edited, but they can be turned on and off from the Tags Manager.

The following is a list of individual Smart Tag definitions.

Tag Definition
Available Creates an ‘Available’ Tag that selects all fixtures that are not part of a Look and have no manual values.
Manufacturer Creates individual manufacturer Tags for each different patched manufacturer.
Active Creates an ‘Active’ Tag that matches all fixtures whose intensity values are above 0.
Inactive Creates an ‘Inactive’ Tag that matches all fixtures whose intensity values are 0.
Manual Creates a ‘Manual’ Tag that matches all fixtures that currently have manual values.
Connection Type Creates individual connection Tags using the connection name for each different connection. Selects all fixtures within that connection.
Fixture Type Creates individual Tags for each different fixture type patched in the project.

Selecting Fixtures with Tags

To select all fixtures within a specific Tag, tap the Tag in the Tags Bar, which will highlight the Tag and select all associated fixtures. The Tag will also become highlighted when all fixtures within the Tag are selected individually. If at least one fixture within a Tag is deselected, the Tag will no longer be highlighted in the Tags Bar.

Tapping a highlighted Tag deselects the included fixtures.
