What is the Profile Library?
The Profile Library is a collection of fixture profiles that is hosted in our cloud database. Our profiles are made by hand to ensure quality, and to enable more complex capabilities across a diversity of manufacturers to be controlled using identical and familiar controls. We release periodic updates to the Profile Library that may include profiles for new fixtures and manufacturers, as well as fixes and updates for existing profiles. Since the Profile Library is hosted in the cloud, it is not tied to new versions of the app. We publish new versions of the Profile Library on a more frequent schedule than Slyyd itself. So it’s a good idea to check for updates regularly.
How to Update the Profile Library
An internet connection is required to update the Profile Library. To start the update, first close out of any open projects. From the Project Select screen, tap on the three dots button in the upper right corner and choose ‘App Settings’.
Next, tap the ‘Profiles’ tab at the top of the screen. Tapping the ‘Check for Updates’ button will compare the installed Profile Library with the latest version in the cloud. If a new version is available, the update will appear at the bottom of the screen.
Tapping ‘Version Details’ will show a summary of all the new and updated profiles included in the update. To see a record of previous version details, please visit our Discord server.
Tapping ‘Download’ will download the new Library. New profiles will immediately be available within all projects.
Is it Safe to Update the Profile Library?
Yes! Even if a profile has been changed in a new Profile Library version, existing patched fixtures within a project will not receive that change until they are updated on a per-project and per-profile basis. This way it is possible to gain access to the new profiles available in a Library update without worrying about altering any fixtures in existing projects.
How to Update Existing Profiles Within a Project
If an update for a patched fixture is available after downloading a new Profile Library, an ‘Update’ badge will appear on the fixture in the DMX Map. Tapping the ‘Update’ badge will update every instance of that profile within that project. It will not update that profile within other projects, and other profiles will need to be updated individually.
